Note. After sanding with a belt sander, an orbital sander
should be used to give a finer surface finish.
Sanding
WARNING. The sander is designed for most sanding
operations but it is not to be used as a wet sander.
The sander is designed for sanding wood, plastic and
similar materials. It is used mainly for quickly removing a
large amount of material. Do not use this sander for
sanding magnesium.
1. Ensure that the belt is in good condition.
2. Plug the tool into a power socket.
3. Bring down the sander onto
the work piece and apply light
pressure. Do not apply too
much pressure on the palm
belt sander. Pushing down too
hard on the belt sander may
cause damage or reduce the
life of the product
4. Press the “I” switch (1) and
allow the belt to reach full speed before moving it across
the work.
5. To remove paint or smooth
very rough wood, sand
across the grain at 45
o
in two
directions, and then finish
parallel with the grain.
6. Bring down the sander onto
the workpiece and apply light
pressure. For best results use
the sander in a linear motion not circular.
Using the sander in a circular motion may result in the
belt tracking slipping.
WARNING. Do not apply too much pressure on the palm belt
sander. Pushing down too hard on the belt sander may cause
damage or reduce the life of the product. The product is
designed for one handed operation applying light pressure.
7. Use the front roller (8) only to
sand corners or
irregular shapes.
8. Lift the sander off the work
before switching off.
9. Remember to keep your
hands away from the moving
belt, as it will continue to
move for a short time after the
machine is switched off.
10. Wear safety goggles, a dust mask and ear defenders.
Dust extraction
1. Disconnect the plug from the power supply
2. A vacuum cleaner adaptor can be used to connect a
household vacuum cleaner or workshop dust extraction
system to the sander. The adaptor fits into the dust
extraction port (5).
As the unit has no self-dust extraction, we suggest you use
a vacuum cleaner or other workshop dust extraction system
(not included) where possible.
WARNING. Never use a dust extraction device when
sanding metal. The hot metal particles may cause wood
dust or the bag itself to catch on fire.
General inspection
Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They
may vibrate loose over time.
The supply cord of the tool and any extension cord used
should be checked frequently for damage. It damaged,
have the cordset replaced by an authorised service
facility. Replace the extension cord if necessary.
